The Horrors – Skying (2LP)
The beauty of The Horrors is that every album sees the band slightly shape-shift their sound, whilst managing to still sound like no one else but The Horrors, Their debut album was decidedly goth-like; Primary Colours, their first for XL, added adventures in krautrock and more, and now their latest album Skying finds them breaking even more new ground, It's definitely The Horrors, check those distinctively warm synth washes and the ominous bass lines, but there's also a new lightness of touch and a hint of romanticism, Comparisons to the likes of Psychedelic Furs, The Cure and Echo and the Bunnymen are flowing thick and fast.
