With "Surrender: A Collection" there is 2022, the name suggests it, a new collection, a best-of from 40 years and for those interested a perfect introduction to their catalog.
The track listing, compiled by Marty Rev, Liz Lamere and Henry Rollins, lead singer of U.S. punk band Black Flag and longtime Suicide fan, includes tracks from their debut album "Suicide" (1977) to their latest work "American Supreme" (2002). It also includes "Girl" (Unreleased Version) and "Frankie Teardrop" (First Version), two previously unreleased tracks. All songs have been completely remastered for the "Surrender: A Collection" re-release by Denis Blackham at Skye Mastering. This collection on double LP is rounded off by new, detailed liner notes by Rollins.
Although Suicide received little recognition during their career, they were inspirational to many other bands in the 1970s, including Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, and The Jesus And Mary Chain. Their fans also include artists such as Nick Cave, Jim Thirlwell, M.I.A., Spiritualized, Lydia Lunch, Bobby Gillespie and Savages.
