Mondo Cane is a cult film-documentary from 1962, which became a great international success, giving life to a real cinematic strand of sensationalist documentaries, which took the name of "Mondo-Movie".

The film consists of a series of travelogue scenes that provide glimpses into cultural practices around the world with the intention to shock or surprise Western film audiences.

The soundtrack by Riz Ortolani and Nino Oliviero also had a particular success. Innovative and modern, with it's finest cinematic feel that spans from jazz to exotica and orchestral themes, it won a Grammy award and was nominated for the Oscar in 1963.
